I took the Squarespace Design Course. I've always dreamed of becoming a brand and product designer, but my full-time job in law made it impossible to take on real-life clients and build a portfolio. Balancing the demands of my current job with creating and maintaining digital products for clients seemed unmanageable. However, discovering the Squarespace design course felt like the solution I'd been searching for. It showed me how I could use Squarespace's robust features to create custom websites for clients, which they could then maintain themselves.
During the course, I gained extensive knowledge about Squarespace, web design, freelancing, and, unexpectedly, myself. I realized I had been imposing unnecessary constraints on my growth as a designer and as a person. Working in a job with rigid expectations and processes had inadvertently led me to box myself in. This course helped me break free from those limitations and explore new possibilities. It also inspired me to take the graphic design course to explore more and lean into this creative side of myself.
The learning style was incredibly realistic, blending video lessons with instructional materials. This approach resonated with me because, as a developer, you often rely on a mix of videos and written instructions to troubleshoot and solve problems. It perfectly mirrored the real-world process of getting 'unstuck'.
Iterate! Iterate! Iterate! Your first version won't be your best, and that's okay. The team will provide valuable feedback to help you refine and improve your projects.
The mentorship from the team. As a junior designer, the feedback I received from the team has significantly boosted my confidence and capabilities.
