Ijeoma Okoro

I took the Creative Copywriting Course, because I wanted to expand my skill set and see if copywriting was a viable career option for me.

My skill set is more aligned toward analytics and research rather than creative writing. I had the most fun researching brands I had an interest in, doing a deep dive into their promotional materials, determining a tone of voice, and analyzing them more than creating copy for them. I also figured out my own personal TOV which gave me more insight into myself. I used this opportunity as a means of being more creative and expressive.

The feedback and resources helped me get an overview of what was expected and required of a copywriter. Tasha and the TAs were also super encouraging.

Set up a schedule for yourself with submission dates for each activity and pace yourself. Copywriting will take a lot out of you, so be willing to write down anything and everything.

I do find creative copywriting to be interesting, and I have a newfound respect for many creatives, but I know copywriting is not for me. I am more suited to the technical/research/analytical side of advertising. Knowing the full picture of advertising is great for my professional endeavors. Student Work: Any feedback for us? We welcome it all and always wanna improve : I have compared the CC course with the Squarespace course, and I like that the Squarespace course has detailed resources on what deliverables should look like in alignment with videos. If I could complete the course using the PDF workbook, that would be helpful instead of going back and forth and being confused about what the submission should look like. I was introduced to marketing/ad strategy, which was super helpful. More resources around that area would be helpful.
