I actually signed up for the Squarespace Design Course during the pandemic! I have been running my own wedding photography business since 2016 and as you can imagine it was really difficult being an event photographer in the midst of a global pandemic. I was really interested in UX/UI Design and I wanted to supplement what I was learning on the side with a Squarespace specific design course and that's how I stumbled into ilovecreatives.
I was really nervous before submitting my final custom site, I was really struggling with imposter syndrome and just overall not feeling good enough. But finally I just said "fuck it" and submitted it anyway, and was just so relieved that Puno was so lovely and kind with her feedback. It really helped give me the direction I needed for a design I was just not stoked about and turned it into something I could actually be proud to share. It helped me realize not to stress too much about needing guidance when necessary.
Honestly, it was so fun! I really loved the gamification aspect of it and just Puno's personality throughout the whole thing. I've definitely taken some courses that are so dull and stuffy and it makes it difficult to get through, but these were totally enjoyable.
DO IT! Yeah, it's scary to try something new but you grow and learn so much about yourself when you push yourself. It's a completely worthwhile investment in yourself.
I actually feel confident that I can take on client work, survive the feedback process and make something I'm actually proud of! I also thoroughly enjoyed the Discord access and support from everyone involved. It's been fun being a part of the co-working chats for community and just seeing what projects everyone is working on.
