Digital Retreat:
Homecoming

with Rachel Nguyen

Honest               practice,                     shared                     play.

This is a container to listen inward and create outward. We’ll use video as the vehicle, but the real practice is connecting deeper to self by gathering what you’ve felt and making something from it. However you need to express yourself, we’ll find that truth together. Come as you are with what you’ve been holding. Let’s create something honest. It’s our return, not to the algorithm, but to the art of feeling.

Unfold your Creative Process with Rachel Nguyen

Digital Retreat is a 4-week online guided workshop designed around the new curriculum and workbook, The Creative Process.

This time together is a place to listen inward and create outward without forcing an outcome, no matter your creative medium. Rachel Nguyen of @thatschic will walk you through storytelling, self-expression, and—most importantly—honesty in your work.

You’ll get everything you need: a digital workbook, creative guidance, and a supportive community. Video is the vehicle and the destination is to find joy in the process of making.

Who is the Digital Retreat for?

Whether you're a seasoned creative, a slashie, or someone who just wants to experiment with a new medium, Digital Retreat will help you translate your artistic expression. If you’ve ever stared at your work and thought “How do I share with the world?” — this is for you.

I’m a multi-passionate (slashie) creative.

I love exploring different creative outlets, but I don’t know how to showcase them in a cohesive way. I want to use video to tell a story that ties it all together.

I am an artist but I don't know how to present my work.

I paint, write, or design, but I struggle to capture my work in a way that connects online. I want to use video to share my process and reach more people.

I’m a "traditional" artist stepping into the digital world.

I’m a painter, sculptor, or dancer—I don’t think in pixels. I want to translate its essence into video. I need a way to share my art digitally without losing its soul.

I have ideas but I don't know how to execute them.

I have so many stories in my head, but I don’t know how to bring them to life. I want to experiment with video to shape my ideas into something tangible.

I’ve been making videos, but I want them to feel intentional.

I love creating content, but my videos feel scattered. I want to refine my storytelling and develop a unique creative voice that makes my work feel more meaningful.

I’m create for clients, but I want to push my creative limits.

I’ve built a career in creative work, but I rarely get to experiment. I want to reconnect with my artistry and explore video in a fresh way.

I'm in another ilovecreatives course, but I'm curious about video.

I’ve been learning other creative skills, but video intrigues me. I want to try Digital Retreat before committing to the full Video Creator Course.

I feel stuck in my creative process and need a spark.

I love creating, but lately, I’ve felt uninspired. I want to shake things up, explore a new medium, and use video to reconnect with my creativity.

Creative Process
Digital Workbook

The Creative Process workbook is here to support your creative rhythm without adding pressure. Built from five years of teaching and real conversations with students, it offers structure without rigidity. This isn’t about formulas—it’s about organizing what you already carry: your ideas, your taste, your creative voice. It’s a tool to help you make something honest with just enough shape to keep you moving✦.

You’ll move through four sections of Creative Process, each one designed to mirror the flow of our classes:

Your Aritst Manifesto: This is where you begin to root yourself. Through writing, memory, and world-building, you’ll articulate who you are as an artist—and what your work is really about.

Defining Your Style: What do you love? What moves you? In this section, you’ll start organizing your inspirations and studying the videos, visuals, and language that resonate—so your own taste can lead the way.

Producing Your Idea: Once your direction is clear, this section helps you bring it into form. You’ll explore a flexible four-act structure, build your shoot outline, and develop a personal relationship with being on camera.

Refinging Your Video: From rough cut to final edit, this section offers structure and language to shape your footage and guide your editing process with clarity and intention.

Syllabus

Week 1

1 Orientation

Introduction of space and the characters signed up to be here. We’ll share

2 Artist Manifesto

Who are you as an artist? What do you stand for? What is the thesis of your creative life? We build a world using past, present, and future mindsets as guideposts.

Week 2

3 Define Your Style

Your taste is a map—let’s read it. We study videos, decipher what speaks to you, and learn to articulate why. You already have a library of inspiration; we bring it into focus.

4 Your Video Idea

Using your manifesto as a living outline, you document and film. We observe life through a four-act structure. The story is already unfolding—your job is to catch it.

Week 3

5 Execute Your Outline

We break down the process—filming, editing, distilling. You create a system that supports you, not one that overwhelms you.

6 Optional Meet

No lecture as this is time for you to film and edit. Office Hours will be available at the same time for students to bring questions.

Week 4

7 Rough Cut

We look at works in progress together and share feedback as a conversation. Because sharing your work in a safe space allows your work to come alive beyond your own vision.

8 Showcase

We close with a showcase—a celebration, not a finish line. It’s possibly the most heartwarming day of the entire retreat, where you not only see your vision embraced by others but also experience the beauty of witnessing others' journeys unfold.
