Pilar O’Connor
I studied graphic design in college and have been practicing it as a career for a couple years now, but I wanted to re-approach it from a more technical perspective. There were some parts of my process that had gaps, so I wanted to fill those in through a course that would give me a well-rounded but technical approach to design.
The course helped in sooo many ways I didn't even realize at the time! I actually recently went full time freelance so the class's resources have been great when it comes to budgeting and client communication
I love the fact that I will still have access to all the videos and resources even now that I have completed the course! I've referenced the resources many times in the several months since completing the course. And, I loved learning the studio's process to approaching a brand identity. Everything from the brand audit to the deck design were very interesting to hear about. Also the financial chapter at the end. I've freelanced before but hadn't done so as professionally as the course outlines. Now I am starting to freelance full-time again, years later since the first time I did, and I will approach it in a more detail-oriented and professional manner due to what the course taught me.
If you are looking to take this course, I would say that it's very comprehensive and takes about three months to complete if you're really putting your full energy into it. I would really recommend it to people looking to go full-time freelance because it outlines everything from A to Z in that department. I would highly recommend it for people who are self-taught, and also for people who studied design in school. There are always new things to learn, especially now that Figma is such a primary application in our industry.
