My favorite thing about the course was the custom site section and getting feedback on my work. When you’re working on a project, it’s so easy to feel stuck if you tend to be a perfectionist or when you’re not sure what to do next, but the community and assignments gave me accountability and an extra push to finish my website (+ realize that done is better than perfect!). Puno also gives detailed, personalized feedback that really helps you elevate your work!
There's more than one good thing to come out of the course. I've gained confidence in myself as a designer, and walked away with a portfolio that I love.
My favorite thing about the course is having a design portfolio! The instructors are great at helping you tidy your projects to get them in a portfolio worthy place.I already landed a freelance project with a pretty cool brand because I reached out and shared the portfolio I made in this course.
An unintended benefit of this course was the space it gave me to conquer my perfectionism. Prior to this, I had a lot of shame and fear around my writing, so I appreciated the way the course immediately addressed that aspect of being a writer. I learned how to take a more strategic, unsentimental approach to reading and editing my own work. Not unsentimental to the point of not caring, just to the point where I became objective in my refinement process. I became reassured in my abilities as a writer, while also accepting that I have room to grow.
As a self-initiated course, the experience is what you make of it! Submit things even if you know it could be better, let someone know you like their work, hit the co-working chat. I was able to get an interview at Adobe with the help of a community member and landed a full time job. Lots of a good things have happened since taking the course and I owe it to all the supportive creatives I've met here.
I feel confident in sharing my portfolio and putting myself out there! I'm someone with zero experience in copywriting, but I really feel like this course gave me a solid foundation.
I learned that I'm a nerd for data and enjoyed the analyzing metrics part of the course. I also liked how the content was presented and how the resources provided will be useful going forward.
As a slashie, I couldn't figure out how to make sense of everything that I know and am interested in. I have heard about the "sales funnel" so many times before, but it didn't click until this course. Pointing out what task fits into what part of the funnel lead me to the thread that connects all my skills together: web design and development for the bottom, educational copywriting for the middle, and content creation for the top! I'm so excited to use this in my sales pitch as an all-in-one studio that can cover all bases.
I'm so so grateful for how the program was able to connect my work as a junior designer to the feedback and eyes of industry designers! Not only was GDCCP a really encouraging safe space to meet other creatives starting out like me, but the portfolio I created from the program landed me a lot of new and exciting opportunities such as two brand design internships in Berlin and getting my work in front of design teams at Google.

I took the Graphic Design Course first. It completely unstuck me. Like, mentally. Creatively. Existentially. I started letting go of the "right way" and leaned hard into the weird side of my design brain. Then I took the Squarespace Design Course because I was already deep in it and figured, why stop now? It made sense — I’d just built a whole brand in the GDC, and now I needed somewhere to actually put it. The two courses were a match made in heaven.
I used this course to re-launch a previous creative writing newsletter on video and for IG. The tools from this course gave me the skills to launch this project thoughtfully and gave me a portfolio for the job market! From real-like practice and supportive feedback, through Joellen's relatable and motivating teaching style, taking this course was a highlight of the last couple months.
My advice to anyone thinking about taking the course is—Do it! The information is concise, valuable and engaging- and nothing ever comes without adequate examples to further assist. Copywriting contains so many elements that may initially seem intimidating, but this course helps lessen that intimidation by providing genuine community, examples and the workbook that really walks with you through everything. This course was fantastic! Everything was 10/10.
